Kai Doula Co. - Postpartum Doula Services - Greater Seattle Tacoma Area - Mary Hill, LICSW Every child begins the world again. (Henry David Thoreau)

What can I expect?

Services are provided in your home and are very flexible in order to meet the needs of each family. Some common services include:

  • Birthing parent care and childbirth recovery
  • Emotional support
  • Assistance/education with infant care (bathing, diapering, nursing, bottle feeding, sleeping, etc.)
  • Light housekeeping (quick vacuum, tidy baby space, laundry, load/unload dishwasher, etc.)
  • Simple meal preparation
  • Sibling care
  • Errands
  • Screening for symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
  • Referrals
  • Accompanying you to infant or parent doctor appointments
  • Overnights (8 hour minimum per night)

{I do not work in homes where there is tobacco smoking.}

Please note, a postpartum doula is not:

  • A medical professional or clinical provider
  • A housekeeper/maid
  • A nanny

Can I meet you first?

I simply love working with infants and new families and am so excited to be able to do what I do. I realize that hiring a doula to come into your home during such a vulnerable, changing and special time in your life is a big decision. Thank you in advance for considering me as your doula. I would love to speak with you via phone or email to set up a personal consultation to see if I would be a good match for your family.

A free consultation is available to each family interested in my services and I will travel to your home for this initial time together.

How much does it cost?

  • $55 per hour

Mileage is charged for running errands and the client is responsible for any parking costs incurred by the doula during work hours. (This usually is only relevant for clients who live in downtown Seattle.)

Once I hire you can we talk at length before the baby arrives?

Prenatal Consultation Appointments: $120 per 2 hour consultation.

As my schedule allows, I like to make myself available to future clients who would like some in-home prenatal consultation. The content of these sessions is entirely up to you, though I’m happy to offer up topic suggestions if you’re not sure what questions to ask (very normal!!) or if you would like some guidance on how best to use our time together. Please feel free to call or email if you have more questions about this service.
